Originating in the Philippines in 1986, GOLDEN ABC started with 40 employees and its flagship brand Penshoppe. Six brands and over 6,000 employees later, the company is now a recognized pioneer in the fashion retail scene, leveraging on the latest business innovations to grow all areas of its business, from operations and sales, to design and professional partnerships.
It continues to invest in IT systems, data technology, supply-chain distribution infrastructure, brand marketing, and having the right organizational framework to support its rapidly expanding domestic and international business.

GABC continually reaps success in merchandising, marketing and retail, and has been distinguished by independent market researchers, industry stalwarts, and local and foreign award-giving bodies alike not just for its brands but in its corporate pursuits as well.
GOLDEN ABC and its brands have been recognized by the highest award giving bodies in the country for their excellent brand and retail management programs. Penshoppe (2002), Oxygen (2007), Memo (2010), and ForMe (2013) have achieved Hall of Fame Status as Retailer of the Year at the Outstanding Filipino Retailers Awards given by the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) & the Department of Trade in Industry (DTI). Penshoppe was also recognized as the 2014 Global Retailer of the Year from the same award giving body. In 2017, Penshoppe was awarded as the Country Winner of the Best Marketing Campaign Award by the Federation of Asia-Pacific Retailers Association (FAPRA).
GOLDEN ABC was also presented by the People Management Association of the Philippines with the People Program of the Year award for its AFTER 6 initiative, which is GABC’s brand for its employee development and engagement activities.
The company was also honored to be the Philippine representative in the 7th ASEAN Business Awards held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar and named one of the winners in the ASEAN Centricity Category for serving as the perfect model for Filipino companies aiming to enter into the integrated ASEAN market in a position of strength. More recently, GOLDEN ABC was again named winner in the 2017 ASEAN Business Awards for Priority Integration Sector in Retail held in Manila, Philippines.
The Corporate Social Responsibility platform of GOLDEN ABC, called GET UP, has been recognized by the Philippine Quill Awards for CSR Excellence and the Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards for Best Integrated Digital Program for its public launch.
GOLDEN ABC, is led by the vision of its Chairman and CEO, Mr. Bernie Liu, who is a respected leader in the Philippine retail industry. He has previously been elected President and Chairman of the Philippine Retailers Association and currently sits as a Director in the same organization.
Mr. Liu is consistently sought out to be a resource person on the future of Philippine Retail and on the ASEAN Economic Community by the likes of USAID-DTI, Oxford Business Group, TIME Magazine, and other media outfits. He was also featured along with some of the top business leaders in the country for an Asia Business Channel feature on the Philippines.
He has also been given the Agora Award for Outstanding Achievement in Entrepreneurship by the Philippine Marketing Association, Ten Outstanding Young Men Award from the Junior Chamber International Philippines, and the MVP Grand Bossing Award given by PLDT.
Mr. Liu sits as an Independent Board Director of PLDT, the largest telecommunications company in the Philippines. He also sits on the board of Mga Likha ni Inay, Inc. of the CARD-MRI, and is a Trustee of Children’s Hour Foundation.
He is a licensed architect with a degree from the University of San Carlos and has earned a post-graduate diploma from the Owner/President Management Program of the Harvard Business School.
